We get asked this question a lot! Due to the shapely and attractive timber supports that sit in the corners of the frame, a garage door that opens by moving through the opening is not physically possible.

There are only two choices: A roller door or a sectional garage door.

A roller garage door offers a neat, compact solution, but only comes in one design. Obviously, there are different colours, but the look – small horizontal ribs – is standard.

A sectional garage door, on the other hand, has a variety of designs ranging from different-sized ribs with linear insets through to a Georgian design. They also do a range of surface finishes, as well as the usual choice of colours.

To this end, the choice of door is down to customer preference.

However, the other consideration is where the door retracts to. A sectional door has a track system that goes into the ceiling space, whereas a roller door just rolls up above the opening – you need enough space for this though.

Also, roller doors do not like going down onto uneven ground where sectional doors are more forgiving. Either way, we can help you and make a door fit!
