The photograph above is a classic example of what can happen to your garage door if you don’t keep it clean.
This door was fitted eight years ago and was beginning to rust at the top, so the customer called us back.
Doors like this sectional one should last many, many years, but only if you care for them properly.
The issue is not just about keeping the door clean but making sure the salt has been washed off. The air in seaside towns is full of salt and it has a corrosive effect on garage doors.
The rain is a natural helpful cleaning assistant but, in this instance, it could only reach the bottom half of the door, so the top half got dirtier and dirtier and the salt started to do its worst.
It seems a shame to write off a garage door when a regular wipe down could have prevented rot setting in.
