Garage doors for barn
Down in the deepest depths of the East Sussex countryside, South East Garage Doors was invited to help with a large barn-style storage area.
The challenge was that the openings were so big. We are talking 3 metres across and 2.5 metres in height.
The land the house and storage area were located on was also susceptible to flooding in the winter and spring with 6 inches of water on the ground and in the garage!
The owners had also had several items of machinery stolen as there was obviously no way of securing the two open spaces.
A roller door would not work in this scenario as the electrics in the bottom slat would be destroyed by flood water, so we recommended sectional garage doors.
Hörmann sectional garage door
The Hörmann sectional door is the perfect solution as it rises vertically and therefore avoids the timber supports in each corner of the framework. They are also Secured by Design-registered once coupled with the Hörmann automation system.
The customer chose the M-ribbed design in anthracite woodgrain. These doors complemented the woodwork very well.
We worked for two days to install these doors due to the challenge of the size of the openings and the fact that every surface was not level or the same. This meant fitting had to be slow and methodical to ensure the correct installation. However, our customer now has a secure storage area for his tools and machinery.
