Period properties can pose an issue when choosing a replacement garage door. Customers want to remain loyal to the period their property was built in but do not want to hang onto aging garage doors that are falling apart and simply do not do the job anymore.
When Mrs Courtney from Uckfield sought our advice, we introduced her to a range of garage doors that look like they are made from wood but are in fact made of low maintenance glass reinforced polyester (GRP), more commonly known as fibre glass, which is used by yacht builders.
Made to measure, these doors will essentially last forever. They are very resilient and will not suffer the effects of weather that timber doors do. They won’t warp, shrink or rust, even in salt-laden atmospheres, and are dent resistant.
The Wessex traditional garage door range is also very pleasing to the eye. The wood grain finish and wood grain trim means they look like they are made from wood and, by being side hinged, remain sympathetic to the property’s origins.
The team went one step further, however, by fitting the doors within the existing timber frame to complete the service provided by South East Garage Doors.
