Converting two single-width garage door openings into one (Garage Conversion)

Here we go again! The garage conversion season is officially underway!

This work was completed in a single day for a customer in the village of Newick, near Lewes. The in-house team is well oiled now and everyone has their jobs.

It all started when I met the local steel fabricator Merlinlink on site to unload the steel.

Next, the Capital Garage door supplier arrived with and carefully unloaded the new Hörmann 16ft M-ribbed white woodgrain sectional door.

Meanwhile, the team had swiftly removed the existing doors and had strapped them to the van ready for disposal. The existing roof structure was secured using acrow props. The central pier was carefully dismantled and preparation on either side of the opening was made ready for the steel. The steel was then lifted into place using a Genielift. It was levelled and then bedded onto steel plates.

Dean then set about trimming the fascia and soffit in white uPVC, along with the side wall reveals. Alex and Woody then expertly fitted the sectional door along with the Hörmann SupraMatic automation unit.

We were all swept up by 3pm ready to leave to dispose of the rubbish and clean out the vans ready for the next day’s work!
