The benefits of insulted garage doors

As winter approaches and the temperature starts to drop, we reach for the thermostat to turn the heating on to keep ourselves warm. However, many people are delaying turning their heating on this year due to the steep rise in energy prices.

But did you know that if your garage is integral to your house, it is probably responsible for losing up to 30% of your heat?

Losing heat through your garage door

A typical up-and-over door is usually made from metal. Metal is an excellent conductor and therefore whatever the temperature outside it will be the same on the inside. That means a chilly day will mean a chilly garage!

If you’re using the garage for storage or for hobbies, an uninsulated zone will be unpleasant to work in and might even allow damp to affect tools and materials.

Is there a room above your garage? If so, that’s likely to get colder than the rest of the house if the space below it is constantly cold. Often this is the master bedroom, so is a room that is in constant use.

Choose an insulated garage door for a warmer home

However, there are garage doors available that will protect your home from the cold weather and insulate your house. This will then mean you will need less heating, which will save you money and potentially mitigate the current rise in energy prices we are currently seeing.

Sectional, roller and side-opening garage doors are excellent at keeping the cold out, while they also offer something different in the way they are fitted. We supply and fit all of these types of garage doors. See some examples from the manufacturers we work with.

Why not book an appointment for a survey? It might just save you money on your heating bills in the the long run.
