Two Garage Doors To One- Back in the 1980s. the doors in this before photo would have been in vogue and quite expensive. These days, designs and tastes have moved on. The size of cars have also changed dramatically.

Today, the average car can no longer get through the standard 7ft (2,135mm) openings that many of us have. We need at least 7ft 6ins (2,280mm) if not 8ft (2,440mm) to safely negotiate the entrances without scratching the car. How many times do I visit customers because they are fed up with costly scratches and scrapes?

We are increasingly being asked if we can get rid of the that annoying central pillar, between two garage doors, to make one big opening. On many occasions the answer is “yes”.  All the work is carried out ‘in house’ by the specialist South East Garage Door team. We normally manage to get the whole job done, including door install, in one day!

In the photo above, you will see a good example of our work. We installed the supporting steel along with a Hörmann L-Ribbed sectional door. What a transformation and no more scratched car!

The costs involved really depend on the work involved and what sort of garage door is required. As a guide, costs range from about £4,800 to £7,000 inc. VAT.
