Wash to prevent rust

In this photo, you can see a garage door that was fitted quite a few years ago.

While the bottom two thirds of the garage door are in relatively good condition, the top part of the door is starting to rust.

This is a very common thing to happen particularly in coastal areas as the salt or chemicals carried in the rain are allowed to sit on the door. After time, the rain will wash the bottom part of the door clean but it doesn’t get to the top.

I always advise our customers on new installs to give the door a wash with clean water a couple of times a year, particularly at the top. This will ensure the surface of the door stays fresh for many years.
