Overcoming the challenge of timber frames

We often get asked to come and see customers with timber-framed garages or outbuildings. They are always beautifully made, often out of oak. However, installing a garage door in one can  be quite tricky.

Over the years, we have become quite adept at fitting them. The two pictured above have been completed in the last month. Both had their separate challenges.

All the openings were different sizes and none of them were level in both directions. We like to use Hörmann sectional garage doors to help us overcome these challenges.

Often there are concrete or brick feet to the timber posts, which also involves cutting and adapting to the frames. Fitting inside the frames can also be fun when there are multiple tracks suspended from the ceilings, and rafters when there are two or more doors like in these examples.

Our customers chose completely different finishes. Both are m-ribbed with medium width panels. One is in a black woodgrain and the other is in one of Hörmann’s very special finishes, planar CH703, which is a take on the ever-popular anthracite grey.

We were able to do both from Hormann’s Renomatic range which offers very competitive prices, including automation.
