What is Secured by Design?

Secured by Design is a status with a lot of clout when it comes to garage doors.

Here at South East Garage Doors, we use Hörmann and SWS doors for 90 per cent of our installations. Both of these manufacturers hold Secured by Design accreditation.

So what is it?
Secured by Design is an official UK Police flagship initiative aimed at ‘designing out crime’ by using effective crime prevention and security standards for a wide range of products and applications.

Only products which have been tested and meet the required technical standard can be awarded this Police preferred specification.

Research has indicated that Secured by Design usage can reduce burglary and car crime by up to 50 per cent and criminal damage by 25 per cent.

So why is so important when it comes to garage doors?
Not only is your garage often one of the easiest ways to break into your home, but it usually houses high value items that are easy for an intruder to steal and sell.
